In past running electronics, tools or appliances without access to the grid required the use of noisy gasoline or diesel generators or clunky inverter systems based on lead acid batteries. Battery technology has come a long way and we now have the option to use commercial scale, 4,000 watt lithium ion based battery packs (BattPacks) to replace traditional generator use. Several advantages of investing in a lithium ion based BattPack for your business or recreational needs include:
No fuel, No fumes, No noise
The BattPack requires no fuel, generates no fumes and makes no noise aside from some ambient cooling fan noise. The days of noisy generators are gone.
Versatile tool and appliance use
The BattPack can run everything from a mining coring drill to a laptop computer to a concrete grinder to a refrigerator or freezer. It is also able to run multiple tools and appliances at one time. With an 8,000 watt surge watt rating even tools that have a large draw will work. The solution generates pure sine wave which is best for operating electronics and other sensitive devices.
Ruggedized & weatherproof
The BattPack is built to be used for work situations and as such it is ruggedized to withstand the normal demands in a construction, industrial and recreational setting. It is weatherproof and can be left outside in the rain, snow, sleet, heat or rain and still perform beautifully. It operates at its best between -25C and +40C.
Used indoor and outdoor
The BattPack can be used inside and outside. The noise free aspect is a big benefit to the solution.
Recharging the unit is simple and can be done through a standard wall outlet in 4 to 6 hours or you have the option to use plug and play solar panels that can provide a 7 hour recharge (based on two 380 watt panels) or you can even recharge through a vehicle alternator adapter.
This is huge. It will last 10 to 15 years and operate for over 3,000 cycles. A cycle is a charge to full discharge. We estimate heavy use being 300 a year so 10 years. The reality is that it will last much longer and partial charges do not constitute a full cycle. The chemistry of the battery, a lithium iron phosphate composition, also means that after 3000 cycles, it will charge up to 85% of its capacity for use. This is in comparison to a lithium ion phosphate battery that’s not recharged once it has cycled out.
Smaller, portable and lighter weight
A lithium battery can store more energy per gram than other rechargeable batteries which results in lighter weight. Because of this, it is ideal for construction, industrial or recreational use. The BattPack solution is the size of a suitcase, weighs approximately 100 lbs and kicks back and rolls on wheels like a suitcase. It size means it can fit almost anywhere easily.
High energy density
One of the main advantages of lithium over older battery types is its ability to hold charges longer. It can provide power to small electronics like laptops or other appliances for longer periods. It is great for recreational activities such as camping and has various industrial applications such as in forestry, construction, and mining.
All rechargeable batteries will undergo self discharge whether it is being used or not. Nickel cadmium (NiCad) and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries have a much faster discharge rate than lithium. A lithium battery can discharge around 5% of its charge in the first 4 hours but after a month of use can become as slow as 1-2%. The BattPacks are enabled with a Master Kill Switch which in essence disconnects the battery and eliminates any parasitic draw. This ensures your battery will be fully charged when you need it.
There is no maintenance or moving parts. Hit the button to turn it on and that is it.
