One of the biggest challenges of towing a trailer is backing up particularly in situations where you would have to drive along narrow roads and backup into tight corners. Ford has developed a new technology called the Pro Backup Trailer Assist that comes with the 2016 F-150 which makes it easier for both long-time and upstart light duty truck drivers to back up conveniently and with confidence.
The Pro Backup Trailer Assist system consists of a knob that sits on the dashboard and can be adjusted to turn the radius of the trailer by controlling the steering of the F-150. The system works by using a reverse camera that can track the movement of the trailer using a sticker placed on the trailer that is readable by the camera system. This new system will see itself in all models of the 2016 F-150 and should be a very attractive reason choose a Ford.
The technology is a boon especially to first-time towers. Though there is still a learning curve involved, it’s significantly easier than doing things the old-fashioned way. The knob is easy to work with, allowing drivers to fine tune the trailer angle as necessary. The system is easy to get used to and the process is quite straight forward. Already, it has garnered some pretty high accolades including the “Best Technology of the Year” by The Texas Auto Writers Association and won the Vehicle Intelligence category of the Consumer Technology Association “Best of Innovation Awards.”
We recommend the Ford F-series truck if trailering is big part of your business. The Pro Trailer Backup Assist is a smart solution to save time and increase productivity. Instead of struggling to back up their trailer, you get to your destination faster and spend more time on the job or managing your company.
