It’s no surprise that the full-sized truck has become the most sought-after vehicle in today’s market. With its versatility and durability for almost any task it is set to, it has become synonymous with a daily driver suitable for both work and leisure. But these workhorses don’t come cheap, and all that power that they provide comes at a cost. The smart lessee should research on the best fuel efficient rental trucks that have the least impact on their operating budget. Below are some of the best mileage work trucks for 2019.
2019 Dodge Ram 1500
With an EPA of 13 litres per 100 km, this truck is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles available today. It comes standard with a 3.6-litre V6 with an option for more powerful engines. Its rear wheel drive system also uses an 8 speed automatic transmission.
This fuel efficiency does mean that the engine is not as powerful as others in the market. It cannot boast of the best at payload (866 kg) and towing (3011 kg) numbers but it is otherwise adequate for a lot of people.
2019 Ford F-150
The gold-standard of pick-ups for several years, the F-150 is still the best-selling vehicle in North America. Its versatility is augmented with a plethora of technology to improve ride comfort, drive characteristics, and vehicle dynamics. It also has some of the best fuel-efficient engines right now. The payload capacity is 934 kg and the towing capacity is 3,492 kg.
The F-150 comes with a 3.3-litre six cylinder as a base unit it but also has a more economical 2.7-litre turbocharged option which are both mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Both these engines achieve 13.0 litres per 100 km with a slight edge going to the 2.7-litre variant in terms of city and highway ratings. The turbocharged option however, is more expensive.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Although not as efficient as the Ram and Ford models, the Silverado still holds impressive mileage numbers. The best engine for fuel economy is the optional 2.7-litre turbocharged engine which gets an EPA-estimated rating of 13.5 litres per 100 km. As with the F-150, this option is the more expensive choice compared with the standard 4.3-litre V6 that comes standard, but the latter comes with worse fuel economy. An 8-speed automatic transmission is they use for their engines. The maximum payload rating comes to about 925 kg and the towing capacity is around 3,175 kg.
2019 Ford Ranger
It may be the smaller sibling of the F-150 but it is by no means a slouch in performance. The Ford Ranger comes with a capable 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine delivering up to 270 hp with a torque rating of 310 lb-ft. It can achieve 14.0 litres per 100 km and is able of carrying up to 748 kg of payload and tow as much as 3,402 kg.
There are many other available trucks out there for customers to choose from but these are the most fuel efficient trucks that you can consider leasing for your business operations. They may not have the most power for their class but they will definitely save you money in the long haul.
